Parkinson's Disease is a condition that affects the brain and how we control our movements. In our brain, there are special cells that produce a chemical called dopamine, which helps us move smoothly and easily.

In Parkinson's, these cells stop working or die off over time. Without enough dopamine, it becomes harder to control movements, leading to symptoms like, shaking, stiffness and balance problems.

Parkinson's can also affect other parts of life, like sleep, mood, and thinking. While there’s no cure yet, treatments like medications and therapies can help manage the symptoms and improve quality of life. Important is to recognise the disease as early as possible, so these interventions have more effect.

FibrilPaint is our patented innovation for detecting, visualizing, and monitoring protein clumps known as amyloid fibrils, which are linked to diseases like Parkinson’s. Although the exact role and origin of these fibrils in disease are not fully understood, they are known to grow larger and become more prevalent as the condition progresses. 

Recent research has shown that these fibrils are not confined to the brain; they can "leak" into other tissues, such as the blood. With FibrilPaint, we can now detect these fibrils using just blood. This makes detection and monitoring of disease easier and more patient-friendly.
